Copper Wire Stolen From Turtle Creek Power Substation

An RCMP investigation is underway after the theft of between ten and twelve feet of copper wire from a Turtle Creek power substation.

NB Power Spokesperson Dominique Couture says it was stolen over the weekend of July 2 to 4th.

Couture says crews were able to repair damages and restore electricity to customers within a few hours.

A reminder to the public that they should never, under any condition, approach a substation.

She says these facilities can be extremely dangerous, as electric power flows through them at high voltage levels.

She says tampering with equipment in substations can lead to deadly consequences not only for the person who would break into a substation but also for anyone near the facility.
