Staff Shortage Leads To Temporary ER Closure In Oromocto

Staffing shortages will lead to temporary changes at the Oromocto Public Hospital starting Tuesday.

The emergency department will now close at 4 p.m. daily and resume regular daytime service at 8 a.m.

It’s normally open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m

Horizon Health says the temporary closure will remain in effect until it can recruit an adequate number of health professionals to work there.

During the closure, patients will not be seen in the emergency department and ambulances will be diverted to other hospitals.

Anyone who needs urgent medical care will need to seek treatment at another hospital.
