UPDATE: Shooting Incident In West River Leads To Arrests

Two people have been taken into custody after an incident near Alma.

RCMP Corporal Hans Ouellette says at around 8:35 pm, there were reports of shots fired outside a home on Route 114 in West River.

Police believe two suspects in a white pickup fired shots at an unoccupied vehicle.

Ouellette says the truck then fled at a high speed towards Moncton, “A tire deflation device was successfully deployed and the vehicle came to a stop a short distance after on the highway. The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.”

Police established a perimeter, and after an overnight search, Ouellette says one of the suspects was arrested at around 6:15 am this morning without incident.

According to Ouellete, the second individual turned himself into Codiac Regional RCMP on Tuesday afternoon.

Ouellette says this is believed to be an isolated incident.
