Andrew LeBlanc Will Be New Riverview Mayor

Andrew LeBlanc is projected to become the next mayor of Riverview in a race against Tammy Rampersaud.

Unofficial results from Elections New Brunswick at 11:30 p.m. ADT based on 51 out of 57 tabulators:

  • LeBlanc 3,235 votes
  • Rampersaud 2,779 votes

Around 10 p.m., Tammy Rampersaud conceded defeated and released a statement on Facebook thanking her supporters.

LeBlanc noted how he had a good working relationship with Rampersaud on town council over the last five years and wishes her nothing but the best.

LeBlanc has been deputy mayor for the last year and a councillor-at-large since 2012 while Rampersaud has been a councillor-at-large for the last five years.

He intends to meet with the new council before an official swearing-in ceremony on June 14 and says he’s anxious to get down to business.

“One of the themes of my campaign was collaboration and working together and that means bringing our non-profit organizations, our schools, our youth groups, our seniors groups and bringing everybody together to start addressing some of the big issues we are facing.”

He says feedback from residents revealed some top priorities for the municipality such as public safety, homelessness and affordable housing.

LeBlanc added that retiring mayor Ann Seamans was a longtime mentor to him and he felt humbled and honoured to have her support during the campaign.
