SPCA Food Bank Helping Struggling Pet Owners

A food bank created by the Greater Moncton SPCA has been helping pet owners in need over the past year.

Executive Director Dan Fryer says it was a bit of a shock when he looked back to see how much food they have given out, “Between April 2020 and April this year, we have given out just shy of 9000 pounds of food, which is a huge amount of food to handout.”

The food bank was created in 2020 to help those who are struggling financially to feed their pets.

Fryer says all pet owners have to do, is reach out and ask for help, “We are really cautious and careful not to make people feel like they’re are being judged. Our simple criteria is, we just need to know that someone has felt the need to reach out, and we will do whatever we can to help.”

He says, if you are a pet owner in need, or if you would like to make a food or monetary donation, give the Greater Moncton SPCA a call.

The SPCA recently expanded its services to offer assistance to those who are impacted by the new isolation restrictions as well.
