Moncton Fire Battles Tough Transport Trailer Blaze

A challenging transport trailer fire on English Drive kept Moncton firefighters busy for around four hours.

Platoon Chief Charlie Melanson says reports of the fire came in at around 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon.

The 53 foot trailer had been hauled out of the shop by employees after they noticed light smoke.

The truck was filled with paper and cardboard products.

Melanson says they were able to get the fire under control quickly, but it was difficult to get to where the fire originated.

He adds they had to cut a hole in roof of the trailer to gain access and all of the contents had to be removed.

There’s no word on a cause yet, but Melanson says it isn’t considered suspicious.
