Cat Alerts Family Of Fire In Duplex

A cat deserves a special tuna feast, after helping save a family from a fire in a duplex on Highfield street.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Brian McDonald says the fire started in the kitchen of the lower unit at around 2:15am this morning.

The family of four escaped wearing just their pyjamas after their cat woke them up.

McDonald says this fire is also an important reminder of how critical it is that you have a smoke detectors in the home, because there were none at this address.

There’s serious damage to the kitchen, and smoke and water damage to the remainder of the home.

Fire investigators are on scene trying to determine a cause.
