Fifteen people have been temporarily displaced after a fire in a two storey home on Ellesmere Drive.
Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says they arrived at around 4am this morning to find fire on the inside and outside of the home.
Bruens says it was a challenging fire to fight because it spread quickly to the attic and soffits of the home. The windchill temperatures also made it more difficult for the 15 firefighters on scene.
He says they had to open up the roof to fully extinguish the flames, and the home is extensively damaged.
He says fourteen residents were home at the time, but they managed to evacuate safely before the fire department arrived.
Fire investigators are still trying to determine a cause.
Canadian Red Cross volunteers assisted eight adults and seven children with emergency lodging and financial aid for some winter clothing, food and other basics while they await a damage appraisal and further help through insurers.
