Driver Escapes Unharmed Before Car Bursts Into Flames

A car fire on Wheeler Boulevard near Mapleton attracted a lot of attention yesterday afternoon.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Paul Bruens says the vehicle was fully engulfed when they arrived on scene at around 5:30.

They quickly got the fire extinguished, but had to close off part of the highway, for about an hour.

Water had frozen on the ground, creating slick conditions for other motorists.

Bruens says the fire isn’t believed to be suspicious.

Luckily, the driver wasn’t hurt.
