Man found dead after house fire in Coal Creek, N.B.

An 83-year-old man is dead after a fire in a home near Chipman.

RCMP say the body of the man was found inside a residence on Route 10 in Coal Creek at around 6 a.m. Saturday.

“My understanding is that other people were in the house at the time. My understanding is that there was one other person that was transported to hospital but I don’t know the context of their injuries, but my understanding is that we don’t fear for their safety at this point,” RCMP Corporal Hans Ouellette says.

The home was destroyed in the fire.

Ouellette adds the death is considered to be suspicious.

An investigation is ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the man’s exact cause of death

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Chipman or Minto RCMP.
