Fire damages duplex in Riverview

A family of six have been displaced after a fire in a duplex on Harmony Drive in Riverview.

Flames could be seen when Fire and Rescue entered the home at around 6:30 Thursday night.

Riverview Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Geoff Fisher says it looks like the fire started in a bedroom closet.

They were able to get it under control quickly but remained on the scene for about two and a half hours.

There’s extensive fire damage on the second floor, and water damage on the main floor and basement.

No word on a cause yet.

Eighteen firefighters helped on the scene and received assistance from Ambulance New Brunswick, NB Power, and Codiac RCMP.
