City Of Dieppe Passes 2021 Budget With No Increases

Dieppe City Councillors have adopted the budget for 2021.

An operating budget worth $73.3 million was passed at Monday night’s meeting.

Of this, $59.7 million will go toward the general operating budget, while $13.6 million will go towards the water and sewer budget.

“Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been able to maintain property taxes at the same rate thanks to various savings generated following the temporary closure of our recreational facilities this past March,” stated Mayor Yvon Lapierre.

He adds water and sewer bills will also remain unchanged at $948 annually for the first time since 2008.

Capital spending budgets were also passed at the meeting, $12.3 million for the general capital budget and $3.2 million for the water and sewer capital budget.

The tax base grew by 0.75% in 2021 to its current total of $3.3 billion.
