Snowflake Station Finds A New Home

There’s great news for the annual Snowflake Station.

What Kids Need Moncton Founder Amanda Pooley says they have a new home, “We have secured a location. We started moving stuff in already. We are at 200 Halifax Street, in My Bike Shop. We are going to be moving pretty much the rest of the stuff in.”

Just last week, they were unsure where they would go, because last year’s location was unavailable.

After a radio plea, Pooley says they received a number of calls from people wanting to offer space, “Just to see the community support and that people cared that we were in this bind, and they cared enough to step forward to see if there was some way that they could help us.”

Pooley says George’s Plumbing and Heating didn’t have a space for them, but they have offered to pay the rent for the new location.

The annual campaign provides toys, books and clothing

“I predicted last year, that this year we would be between 1300 and 1400 kids. I do expect that number to be higher based on the number of people who are struggling with COVID right now,” Pooley says.

The annual Snowflake Station will kick off on November 12th.

They are still taking donations of toys, books and clothing Many volunteers are also needed because of new procedures due to COVID-19.

They will also be relying on sponsorship this year.
