Child pornography charges have been laid against a Riverview man who served as a volunteer basketball coach.
Thirty-two-year-old Shawn Curtis Nickerson was arrested on Sunday after police searched a home on Aberdeen Drive.
Officers seized a number of electronic device from the residence.
Nickerson made a court appearance in Moncton on Monday, and was charged with making child pornography.
Police says the alleged incidents occurred between December 2018 and January 2020.
Nickerson is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday for a bail hearing.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit began investigating in August 2020, as a result of information received from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.
The Internet Child Exploitation Unit, is led by the New Brunswick RCMP, and includes members of the Saint John and Kennebecasis Regional Police Forces.
