Riverview to use winter alert system to restrict on-street parking

Winter alert systems will now be used in Riverview for on-street parking.

The communication was in place during the 2023/2024 winter season for a trial period and 23 alerts were issued.

Town Council voted last week to implement this new system permanently, instead of using a blanket parking ban every night for the entire season.

The winter alert system is in effect between December 1 and March 31. Overnight parking restrictions are issued by 6 p.m. and remain in effect between midnight and 7 am to allow for the clearing of snow.

The unanimous vote by the Town Council gave staff the direction to start the process of changing the Traffic By-Law to implement the program permanently.
