Ward 1 Riverview Town Councillor steps down

A by-election will be held to fill a vacancy on Riverview Town Council.

Ward One Councillor Sarah Murphy has resigned effective October 7.

In her letter to the Town Council, Murphy says it was a difficult decision, but she needs to focus on her family and teaching career.

She also states what an incredible honour it has been to serve the residents.

“On behalf of the Town of Riverview, I want to thank Ms. Murphy for her time serving the residents in our community. From her term as Deputy Mayor and the commitment she has shown as a Councillor, she will be missed and we wish her all the best in her endeavours,” said Mayor Andrew J. LeBlanc.

Murphy was serving her first term after being elected in 2021.

The resignation will be submitted to Elections New Brunswick for their approval to be included in the December 9, 2024, by-election.
