Greater Moncton’s newest pro basketball team recruits first player

The Tri-City Tide has signed its first player.

Doug Thomas previously played for the Moncton Motion and has most recently been a player development coach at Mount Allison University.

He has also taken part in NBA summer league with teams including the Phoenix Suns and the Chicago Bulls.

Thomas has also played with other professional teams across the globe including Mexico, Sweden, and the United States.

The Tri-City Tide is one of three Maritime teams in The Basketball League.

Rop Spon will lead the Tri-City Tide in the role of Head Coach. He has signed a two-year contract with the team.
