Woman arrested after alleged threats made at school

A 34-year-old woman is facing charges after a threat was made at a local school.

RCMP Staff Sergeant Nick Arbour says they received reports from Riverview East School at around 7:45 Wednesday morning.

Police responded and the school was placed under a Hold and Secure.

Officers identified a suspect at around 9:30 and she was taken into custody.

Charges of uttering threats are expected to be laid.

Arbour says the woman has a child who attends the school.

The Hold and Secure has now been lifted.
An email was sent from the Anglophone East School District to parents.
A Hold and Secure is when movement is permitted inside the building but no one is permitted to enter or exit the building.

“It is through the quick and ongoing work of the school administrative team and staff to ensure that protocols were enacted to ensure the safety of all. Thank you for your cooperation and support. We understand that these situations can be stressful and difficult. We practice Lockdowns and Hold & Secures with students and staff regularly so everyone involved is aware of exactly what to do when situations arise, and we continue to ensure everyone’s safety,” Superintendent Randy MacLEAN also stated in the email. .
