COVID-19 has forced Greater Moncton to find another way to welcome Santa Claus to town.
The 54th annual Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade will look a lot different than it has in the past.
While it won’t be the same, this option aims to avoid the health risks of thousands of people lining Main Street.
There will still be lights, music and floats, but the 2020 edition will be a stationary parade, and will be held in the Moncton Coliseum parking lot.
It is planned for November 21st, a week earlier than usual.
Your family will be able to drive thru, enjoying this year’s theme, A North Pole Bubble party, while anxiously anticipating the final float to welcome Old Saint Nick.
Parade Volunteer Committee President Alex Morton, is excited and optimistic, “Our decision to move the event to the Moncton Coliseum has meant hundreds of additional planning hours to create a safe ‘bubble’ environment, but the board has risen to the occasion.”
They are still fine-tuning the traffic and safety plans, including how those without vehicles can attend, but more details are still to come.
Registration to enter your float is now open, with a deadline of November 9th.
