SiRT investigating after man injured during St. Stephen arrest

An investigation by the Serious Incident Response team is underway after a man suffered serious injuries in an interaction with police.

RCMP were called to a St. Stephen residence on July 28 in connection with a disturbance.

Officers arrested a man, and he was taken to police cells. While there, he complained of extreme leg pain.

He was then transported to hospital where he was admitted with a broken leg.

The team was contacted in August with complaints that the man was injured during his arrest.

The SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault, intimate partner violence or other issues of public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.
