Air conditioners and fans are working full tilt with the warmer temperatures we’ve been having.
You may be concerned you NB Power bill is going to skyrocket with the extra energy you’re using.
Spokesperson for the Utility’s Efficiency Programs Diane Spencer says there are ways you can keep costs down, and still stay cool, “If you do have air conditioning, adjust your thermostat by a few degrees. You can still stay comfortable and make a big impact on your air conditioners efficiency.”
If you don’t have air conditioning, “Spend time in cooler areas of your home. A lot of us are working from home right now, and working from the basement tends to be a much more favourable place to work to keep yourself cool,” Spencer says. “Try keeping windows closed during the day and your windows open at night as well.”
New Brunswick has been experiencing high temperatures in the low thirties, but with a Humidex on same days in the high 30’s. Since the beginning of the summer, the province has been under at least Heat warnings issued by Environment Canada.
