Shelter Working Hard To Transition Clients Into Housing

The House of Nazareth is working on expanding its support services.

The Greater Moncton Homelessness Steering Committee provided an update to Moncton City Council on Monday.

Spokesperson Jessica Delez says they want to help clients create an ‘exit strategy’ and move them into more permanent housing.

“Most of them, when they receive money, they want to secure their own place, whether it be an apartment or a room. So we have connected with some of the landlords and we’re trying to help them talk to the landlords as well,” she says.

So far, she says they’ve helped 4 individuals secure a job and a number of others are seeking mental health and addiction counselling.

She says they have been much busier during the summer months. The shelter is currently accommodating 91 people but have the capacity to shelter 105.
