Services At Moncton City Hall Begin To Reopen

Businesses are slowly reopening in the City of Moncton, and City Hall is no exception.

Some departments at Moncton City Hall will be opening to the public today.

Building Inspection and Revenue offices will be open, but any visitors to City Hall will undergo a screening upon entering the building.

Speaking from Moncton City Council Chambers, Mayor Dawn Arnold says it has been a strange couple of months but they are working towards a new normal, “We’re hoping to get this(Council Chambers) opened up. We’re working on some new ways to run democracy. Tonight, we will be having a Council meeting virtually again, but we are working on lots of different opportunities to get everyone back in.”

City of Moncton Spokesperson Isabelle Leblanc says they are planning on adding plexiglass that will go between each council member and the General Managers in Council Chambers.

Their hope is to have things in place some time in June.

Mayor Arnold says it is great to see businesses beginning to operate again, “Restaurants are opening, retailers are opening. Lot of businesses are using some really good innovation and creativity to get open and be able to serve you.”
