Fairy Godmothers Bring Smiles During Pandemic

It isn’t everyday you see a Fairy Godmother dropping off goodies on doorsteps.

But you may have spotted one on Sunday.

Founder of What Kids Need Moncton Amanda Pooley says she was out with her best friend along with a few younger fairies making deliveries to ten homes.

“We picked up crayons, and bubbles and skipping ropes and pencils and fun little games and stuff to make up bags for the children. We put on fairy wings and we started dropping off the bags on doorsteps,” Pooley says.

She says a few kids peeked out the window while they were making their deliveries, “They waved and then we would see them running to the doorstep to get their bags. We’ve had a few of the parents send us pictures of the kids going through their bags and playing with the toys so we could see how happy they were to get their surprises.”

Pooley admits it was very gratifying to see the smiles, especially during the pandemic.

“We’ve already had people messaging that they would like to drop off items or e-transfer some money so I can go out and buy some items and make up more bags. We’ve had a really good response so far,” Pooley says.

They’re hoping to do more deliveries on weekends. If you’d like to donate, you can find more information on the What Kids Need Moncton Facebook page.
