The City of Moncton says it isn’t uncommon to see wildlife in regional parks.
Spokesperson Isabelle Leblanc says they have had sightings in the past.
Residents can continue to go to Mapleton Park, but they ask that people refrain from approaching the bear if they see it.
Park crews are continuing to monitor the park.
Leblanc adds the Department of Natural Resources would be called to intervene if needed, because the City does not have the expertise to handle wildlife.
The bear was spotted on Sunday near Frampton Lane and Mapleton Road.
