Crossroads For Women Launches Online Fundraiser

Crossroads for Women is facing a major financial setback they hope the community can help them overcome.

This year’s ‘Atlantic Rock Run’ and ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’ fundraiser events have been cancelled due to COVID-19.

Board member Marc Landry says the annual events usually bring in about 70-thousand dollars.

Landry says events may be cancelled but domestic violence doesn’t stop and they must keep providing services.

He says they’ve recently launched a fundraiser through social media to raise both awareness and funds for their important services.

They are now turning to the public for donations to allow them to keep staff employed and cover other expenses, like food and clothing for those fleeing domestic violence.

“We’re not looking for big donations, people can go online and donate 10 dollars and then ask 5 of their friends to donate,” he says.

Landry hopes those who can will donate and those who can’t can do their part to spread the word.

“At the same time, we’re trying to make people are looking out for their neighbours, reaching out, calling them and making sure everyone is safe as we get through this,” Landry says.
