Balancing Social Isolation And Mental Health

Chief medical officer Dr. Jennifer Russell is reminding New Brunswickers to take care of their mental health.

Many are overwhelmed with fear and anxiety brought on by the pandemic and that now more than ever is the time to be kind.

Dr. Russell says residents should take breaks from news and social media and make time to contact friends and family members.

She also reminds residents to get outside for some fresh air, but says it should be to exercise, not socialize.

Russell says there are many ways to be active while following social distancing rules, like walking, hiking, yoga or a neighbourhood scavenger hunt.

Anyone who may be having a tough time managing their mental health can access resources on the province’s coronavirus web page.
