NBL Canada Cancels Season And Playoffs

The basketball season for the Moncton Magic is officially over.

The National Basketball League of Canada board of governors announced yesterday that the remainder of the 2019/20 regular season and playoffs are cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“NBL Canada’s decision to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 season as well as the playoffs was truly a difficult one to make,” said deputy commissioner, Audley Stephenson.

The league announced on March 12th, 2020 it would suspend all basketball operations, but Stephenson says, “Our league remains dedicated to the health and safety of our players, officials, fans, staff and general public and we feel that our decision to cancel the season is a prudent one in order to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.”

NBL Canada will now begin preparations for its tenth season in 2020-21.
