You can tell the kids to stay in bed this morning.
Schools are closed across the province due to a storm on the way.
Moncton and southeast new Brunswick are under a snowfall warning, while other areas to the north are under a winter storm warning.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Stephen Hatt says the Moncton area could see up to 25 centimetres of snow, while to the north, from the Bathurst are through to the Acadian Pennisula, they are expecting up to 40 centimetres. Other parts of the province, including Fredericton, could see 30-35 centimetres of snow.
“It’s a complex system actually. There’s a northern low going up through Ontario, which is basically giving them the most snow. We are actually being more affected by another low which is developing to the south of it, which is going to track across central and southern New Brunswick.”
The least amount of snow will be along the Fundy Coast and the Saint John area, especially down around St. Stephen were it could change to rain or ice pellets..
The snow is expected to begin falling early afternoon in the Moncton region.
“It is certainly going to be one of the bigger storms of the season,” Hatt says.
High winds up to 70 kilometres an hour, will mean blowing and drifting snow, which will mean reduced visibility.
If you are planning on travelling today, you will want to reconsider.
The storm is expected to wrap up early tomorrow morning.
