RCMP arrest several alleged child sex offenders

Codiac RCMP is investigating 11 complaints made by individuals involved in a group called the Moncton Predator Watch Group.

“These individuals initiate contact with alleged sex offenders who target underage children for a sexual purpose. Meetings are set up and suspects are confronted by the groups. Police then get a call for assistance,” Inspector Jonathan White told Moncton City Council during a monthly update this week.

He adds RCMP do not encourage this practice due to the unpredictability of suspects, but they do admire the intention and passion of residents.

“We deployed at each of these incidents reported by this group and arrested the alleged suspects and we are pursuing these investigations to the extent of the law,” White added.

He also reminded the public that the RCMP has several specialized police services including the Internet Child Exploitation Unit, the Major Crime Unit, the general investigation section and the digital forensic section.

There’s no word if any charges have been laid.
