Run PEI Tip To Tip

Ever wondered what it would be like to see Prince Edward Island tip to tip?

If you’re a runner, you have the opportunity to find out.

It is the first year for the Tip to Tip relay. Runners will cover 273 kilometres from Tignish to Elmira, along the Confederation Trail.

Robert Campbell, who is one of the Organizers says, this is team effort, “There’s 20 legs in the relay, so you can have a team of up to 20 people, where one person would each run one leg. With a team of ten, one person would run two legs. We’ve also had quite a bit of demand for two and five person teams as well.”

They hope to have up to 1000 people or up to 70 teams from all over the Maritimes, Northern US, Ontario and Quebec, to run the race.

Registration opens on February 15th. The Tip to Tip relay will be run on September 5 and 6th..

“The trail, it is multi-faceted, and there is different scenery all the way along. It is fairly easy running. There is no great grade in PEI. The railroad never had more than a three percent grade on its tracks, and that is what the trail is based on,” Campbell says.
