After two incidents involving fake grenades at the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport, officials are putting out a reminder to passengers.
CEO Bernard Leblanc says, “Travellers must remember that even though they know that their items are harmless, airport security screening personnel do not,” says Bernard LeBlanc, CEO of YQM. “What is a toy, ornament or collectible to one person is a possible dangerous object to the security screening staff. We realize how this may cause confusion because many of these fake items are easily available in retail stores and online.”
The recent incidents caused airport delays and the RCMP were also brought in to investigate.
Under rules by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, these types of items are prohibited on board a plane.
