Moncton City Councillor Says iHOP Will Help Attract More New Businesses To Hub City

A Moncton City Councillor says the addition of the iHOP restaurant in the Magnetic Hill area, is a great addition for the City.

Greg Turner says it has already helped with job creation, with over 80 people hired.

He adds, it will also attract a lot more people into the Hub City, “Being adjacent to the Trans Canada Highway, and at the world famous Magnetic Hill are all pluses, but the reality is Moncton has such a great drawing power, and that is what they are looking at here. The reality is, they are beside a truck stop, and in the summer that area is jam packed. Just as the city as a whole, they will do very, very well.”

Turner says when other businesses hear the iHOP chose Moncton for its first location in Atlantic Canada, it will peak their interest.

“A lot of businesses in North America, they’ll hear that the iHOP has come to Moncton and they’ll realize there must be something about the City, so they’ll want to come and check it out,” Turner says..

The Corey-Craig Group is operating the new iHOP, and their plan is to open others in Atlantic Canada in the coming years.

Turner says, “When they looked at Moncton, they said it checked off all of the boxes when deciding where to build the restaurant,” Turner says.

According to the City Councillor, the Moncton restaurant is larger than other iHOP locations, in places like the Orlando, Florida region.

“There are so many people in our area, who travel to the United States, especially Florida, where the iHOP is very, very popular and they have been wanting one of these in Eastern Canada for years. We are very, very proud that they would choose Moncton for their first store in Atlantic Canada,” Turner says.

The iHOP officially opened its doors on Mountain Road at Casino Drive on Tuesday morning.
