AESD Faces Challenges Of Youth Vaping

One of the biggest challenges school districts across the country have been faced with this year is vaping.

Superintendent Gregg Ingersoll says the Anglophone East School District was no exception.

But he says vaping is affecting more than just students’ health.

Ingersoll says, as a result of students congregating in the washrooms to vape, they’ve also experienced a rise in vandalism.

He says staff are working on ways to address the issue, including restricted use of the washrooms.

Ingersoll is confident they’ll be able to put an end to the problem, like they did before for cigarette use.

“It’s the same issue we faced with smoking years ago and we did a great job of pretty much wiping out smoking when it came to school property or on school premises, now the challenge has come back with vaping,” he says.
