Most Of NB Likely To Have White Christmas

If you’re dreaming of a White Christmas, it looks like most New Brunswickers will get their wish.

Thanks to light snowfall on Sunday, the odds have improved except along the Fundy coast.

Environment Canada meteorologist Jill Mapea says there are some areas guaranteed to have snow.

“But up north, they have more snow on the ground so they will definitely be seeing a White Christmas. But what you’re seeing out the window right now is probably what you’ll be seeing at Christmastime,” she notes.

Environment Canada officially defines a White Christmas as having at least 2 cm of snow on the ground Christmas morning at 7am.

Mapea says the chance of having snow on the ground in Moncton on Christmas Day is now 65 percent while in Saint John it is 45 percent.

She adds the odds of having a White Christmas have dropped over recent years.
