Riverview Town Council Passes 2020 Budget

Riverview Town Council has passed its General Operating Fund, Utility Operating Fund, and 2020 Capital Budgets totaling $55,496,203. Within those budgets, $12,391,800 is allocated to general capital projects and $5,130,000 will fund water and sewer capital projects.

The budget maintains the municipal tax rate at the same level as 2019.

Water and sewer bills for the average Riverview homeowner will rise by $8 annually.

One of the things included in the budget for 2020 is phase one of the Bridgedale Boulevard project which includes 1.6 kilometers of roadway from Gunningsville Boulevard to Runneymeade Road extension.

“The construction of Bridgedale Boulevard is an important project for the Town of Riverview in 2020 as it will be one mitigation to traffic congestion that our community will experience during the planned closure of the Causeway in 2021,” said Mayor Ann Seamans.

The budget also includes $1.6 million allocation to capital reserve to support the funding of future infrastructure projects includes in the ten year plan including the proposed Riverview Recreation Complex.

“The long term benefit of this boulevard for the Town is it will open up opportunities for commercial and residential development and it will provide the public with better access into Mill Creek Nature Park as well as the future home of the Riverview Recreation Complex,” Seamans adds.
