UPDATE: Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Elmwood Dr. Collision

Codiac RCMP are investigating a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Elmwood Drive in Moncton.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious, life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Mounties believe the driver of an SUV struck the pedestrian and then lost control of the vehicle and rolled into the ditch.

Elmwood Drive was closed between Southpine Avenue and Granite Drive for several hours and traffic had to be rerouted but it has since reopened.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist and Moncton Public Works are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
