Mock Emergency Exercise At Moncton Airport

Emergency responders will assist in an exercise at the Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc international airport today.

This simulation is a part of Transport Canada’s mandated regulations to have live disaster exercises at least every two years.

Airport Spokesperson Julie Pondant says they are working with area fire departments, RCMP, Canadian Red Cross, Ambulance, and employees from the airport, as well as the emergency operations centre.

One of the focuses today will be communications.

Pondant says, “Codiac Transpo bus is also being utilitized, for this mock exercise. Students from Oulton college have volunteered to act as wounded passengers, and Air Canada is the airline taking part this year.”

The exercise could last up to two hours, starting at 10am.

Pondant adds, it will not affect airport operations .
