African culture is being highlighted this weekend with events in Dieppe and Moncton.
Nelly Nezerwe, with the New Brunswick African Association, she says the festivities kicked off last night with the launch of the first magazine about Africans in New Brunswick.
“There are a lot of immigrants from Africa and they are doing great, so we are going to talk about them,” she says.
She hopes the event will inspire more immigrants to want to live in the province. Nezerwe says the event is open to people of all backgrounds.
“When we are showing our culture, we want people to be curious to know where you are from , what is your interest, your goal,” says Nezerwe.
She once you overcome the challenges of being new to the province, it’s amazing to live in New Brunswick.
“In New Brunswick we have a lot of opportunity and it’s interesting to share our experiences. We want to show that it’s very very good to come here and to improve yourself,” she says.
The rest of the weekend includes live music, dance performances, African painters and a robotics engineer.
There will also be a round table discussion on various topics, including this years theme ‘Being Black In NB’
