You may have spotted a few superheroes in Downtown Moncton today.
Teams of ‘heroes’ in bright yellow capes took part in competitions in cities across Canada today.
This is the first year the Children’s Wish Heroes Challenge was held in Moncton.
Teams competed in a number of challenges at various businesses throughout the city as a fun way to celebrate their efforts.
Spokesperson Pamela Sheppard says local businesses have come up with some interesting challenges.
“It could be anything from a hot wing challenge to, La Mine d’Or has created a challenge where there is a number of pieces of jewelry and the teams have to put them in order of most expensive to least expensive,” says Sheppard.
The event is a way for teams to celebrate their fundraising efforts throughout the year
Spokesperson Kristen Anderson says each team was tasked with raising 10 thousand dollars throughout the year to help grant a child’s wish.
“Teams do fundraising prior to the Timber Mart Heroes challenge and the day of event is an Amazing Race style scavenger hunt event and it’s just a celebration to say thank you so much and for teams to have fun a day and it’s a great team-building exercise,” says Anderson.
Sheppard says there are over 60 children in New Brunswick waiting for wishes.
She also adds that they have passed their one million dollar national goal.
