Local heroes honoured for helping save hockey coach

Honours for four people who helped to save the life of a local hockey coach.

On March 18th, during a U15C Lewisville Lightning hockey practice, a coach suffered a sudden heart attack and collapsed on the ice.

Marc Maillet, Marisol Beaudry, Catherine Theriault, and Julie Lebrun quickly jumped into action using an AED machine and gave CPR until paramedics and the fire department arrived to take over.

Their bravery was recognized during a celebration at the Crossman Centre/Kay Arena on Wednesday night.

It also noted the importance of CPR and AED training.

A doctor says the survival rate would have been only five per cent without their quick intervention.
