Non-Perishable Food Items Needed For Food Depot Alimentaire

Food Depot Alimentaire is putting out a plea for specific items.

Executive Director Chantal Senecal says donations are always down in the summer and their shelves are getting low, “We’re really short on canned vegetables, meat, fruit and cereal. Things that go into the pantry.”

Senecal adds they do have a purchasing budget to buy items if needed, but they don’t want to use it all up and be short at the end of the year.

“We have found this year that our purchasing budget is actually quite high and we don’t want to spend too much early in the year so that we run out of funds late in the year,” Senecal says.

Financial donations can be made online, or drop your non-perishable food items at the Peter McKee Centre, or at Food Depot Alimentaire.

“It is slow across the board for donations throughout the summer. People tend to go on vacation or just forget about their donations. September is really a month we use to get our stocks back up and prepare for the fall,” Senecal says.
