Big win for Fredericton woman after checking ticket twice

A Fredericton woman is now Set for Life, but she almost wasn’t.

Kim Campbell played five of the Scratch and Win tickets and thought she had only won $4.

“I always check my tickets that way to get the 2Chance entries, so I scanned the first ticket and it said, ‘Major winner, see retailer,’” Campbell said.

At that moment Campbell realized she had forgotten to scratch one box on the ticket, which revealed three Set for Life Symbols.

Campbell opted for the lump sum payment of $675,000.

Plans for her winnings include helping her family, purchasing a new car and planning a family vacation. Campbell’s priority is to save most of her money for the future, so she can retire in her early 60s.

She has also decided to reduce her work schedule to four days a week instead of five.

“I’m so fortunate,” Campbell said. “My son and his girlfriend are expecting a baby in July so it’s just really good timing.”
