Reconstruction underway at Alexander Park

The reconstruction of Alexander Park in Moncton will force a closure over the next eight weeks.

The work began yesterday on Reade Street.

The walking path will be accessible now, but the playground and tennis court area will be closed.

New features in the reconstruction include a seating and picnic area, and a rebuilt multi-use sports court with pickleball, tennis, ball hockey and basketball. An all-wheels court will also be created.

More trees will also be planted and a rain garden installed.

Other work includes:

  • New asphalt walking paths across the park to better encourage year-round access and to connect Reade Street to Jones Street.
  • A new pathway through the passive park area on the east side of the park with a grassed open space play area.
