The Town of Salisbury is helping everyone to get active in sports, arts and culture.
They’ve introduced the FAR program, which stands for Financial Assistance for Recreation.
Mayor Robert Campbell says it’ll help offset costs for various things.
“Everything from sports to arts and cultural, from dance to painting to music, you name it. But it’s not just registrations. It’s things like travel and equipment and things that go along with the cost of sports or recreation that people don’t really think a lot about, that can impede individuals from participating,” Campbell says.
FAR will accept registration applications three times per year. For associated costs, applications will be accepted regularly. Both streams are subject to the availability of funds within the program at that given time.
“As Canada’s most active community, we felt that we really had a duty to make recreation and arts and culture as accessible as possible to our residents.”
Those who meet the criteria are eligible for up to $300 per participant, or $500 per family.
