Man Arrested After Youth Stabbed At Grad Party

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after a stabbing at a graduation party near Miramichi.

RCMP responded to a disturbance early Tuesday around 2:30-a.m. on Chaplin Island Road where officers found a 16-year-old male suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound.

The youth was taken to hospital for treatment but later released.

Ashton Ward of Red Bank First Nation has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of failing to comply with conditions of probation.

Ward is being held in custody and returns to court Thursday for a bail hearing.
