Moncton’s Railway History Unveiled At Avenir Centre

As Canadian National Railways marks its 100th year of incorporation, an interpretive panel about Moncton’s railway history has been unveiled in the plaza of the Avenir Centre.

CN Pensioners’ Association local president Bruce Peacock feels the railway has paved the way for the current construction boom in the Hub City.

“The railway not only did so for the City of Moncton but it has opened up this whole country from sea to sea. The railway is a very important part of our culture and our history.”

Given its significance to the region, Peacock would like to see more children learn about the railway noting how his grandchildren love learning about trains.

The CN Pensioners’ Association also donated $10,000 toward the “Our Urban Heart” campaign for the Avenir Centre plaza.
