Evening Shows Announced For World Acadian Congress

The lineup for this summer’s Extrême Frontière evening shows was announced on Thursday during the Hôtesses d’Hilaire rock opera show.

Joseph Edgar is the even’t creative director and he says its meant to be a reflection of the legacy left by Acadian poet, Gerald Leblanc.

“Some artists are going to countries that don’t even speak French but for whatever reason, the impact is felt by people. And I think the programming reflects the way that Gerald had to transcend language frontiers and artistic frontiers,” Edgar said.

The event will welcome over 50 artists from New Brunswick, P.E.I., Quebec, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Louisiana.

It will feature different art forms ranging from dance and poetry to video games and visual art.

It’s also part of the Congrès Mondial Acadien.

Claudette Thériault, chair of the CMA organizing committee says the Acadian culture will be well represented at the event.

She adds that her and her team are down to the final preparations for the Congress.

“Roads are being paved, sidewalks are being cleaned. There’s a lot of work being done to make sure everything is ready for the Congress. There’s a lot of excitement in the air!” said Thériault.

Extreme Frontiere will be held along the Riverfront Park from August 16 to the 23rd.
