Two-Time Champion Bull Rider Zane Lambert

32-year-old Zane Lambert is a two-time champion bull rider.

He is one of the many riders competing in the Monster Energy Professional Bull Riders Tour.

The self-proclaimed thrill-seeker got up on his first steed at the age of 10 and has been riding professionally for 13 years.

Lambert says his family was always around rodeos, livestock and farms and those aspects of the industry.

When he was looking for something new and exciting to try, bull riding seemed like the obvious choice.

He has since turned the hobby into a career.

The high-risk nature of the sport means riders must wear protective vests and helmets, however they are limited on the amount of equipment they can wear.

“We wear as much equipment as we can but one pound can throw you off one way or the other so you definitely want to be flexible and nothing really restricting you from making those counter-moves,” says Lambert.

He says “in a perfect world” riders can walk away calmly and safely but that isn’t always the case so their sports medicine and rehabilitation programs are very important.

You can catch Zane and the rest of the competitors tonight at the Avenir Centre.
