Students To Be Divided Until New North End Moncton School Opens

Despite reportedly being ahead of schedule, there is no official date set yet on when Maplehurst Middle School will open.

During the naming ceremony, the Education Minister Dominic Cardy mentioned that it would likely be in January of 2020.

But Anglophone East District Education Council member Angela Lawson says they have not been told that officially.

Until students can be welcomed into their new school, they will be split amongst other schools.

The grade 7 students will be split between Evergreen Park and Northrop Frye.

All grade 6 students will be at one school and grade 8’s will be at another.

Lawson says students will remain with their classmates and respectful teachers.

She says this will help with the transition once they are allowed in their own school.

She says although this may cause an inconvenience for parents who have children attending two different schools, Lawson says this is will cause the least amount of disruptions for students.
